Photo Diary: Two Days in the Grand Tetons

*Most images shot on Fuji 400 film*

A couple weeks ago we decided to take a quick weekend trip to the Grand Tetons in Jackson, Wyoming. This summer we have really been forced to explore our own backyard (like everyone else), and I am in awe of the beauty that is only a few hours away from my doorstep.

We decided to camp in an attempt to save money and keep ourselves socially distanced. We had yet to go camping since we had been married, so I was a little nervous but it was SO FUN. I would be lying if I said I didn’t Google how to stay safe from bears while sleeping a million times. (LA girl here lol)

We left home at about 3am and got to Jackson around 8am in an attempt to get a campsite since all spots are first come first serve. Even then, most of the more popular campsites were full (pretty common for summertime), but we ended up getting a spot at Gros Ventre which was perfect! It was only a short drive to both the Tetons and Jackson which was perfect for us since we wanted to explore both.

Day 1

We spent our first day hiking around Jenny Lake and then swimming and laying out. The water was so clear and beautiful. Next time we go we want to rent paddleboards.

We finished the night by getting pizza in Jackson at Teton Hand Fired Pizza. So delicious and perfect after a long day. We also got a photo at the famous Antler Arch because you cant go all the way to Jackson without a pic with the antlers haha.

After dinner we drove out to Schwabachers Landing to watch the sunset. This is where I would recommend people go to get that famous Teton photo! Beware: mosquitos are out in full force in the evening at this spot since it is right next to still water. This was the only spot I found mosquitos to be an issue during our entire trip.

That night we made s’mores over the fire and stayed up laughing all night because I thought ever single sound outside our tent was a bear haha.

Day 2

The next morning we made pancakes with blueberry syrup. Packed up the tent and headed to the Coulter Bay Area of Jackson Lake. We swam and hammocked all afternoon long. There were surprisingly no people in the area that we set up in and it was the most beautiful day. We both agreed it was the most relaxing day we had all of 2020.

After our lake day we headed home and planned our next trip for the fall! We are determined to come back before the snow hits!
