College Essentials (that you probably forgot to pack)

This post is about College Essentials (that you probably forgot to pack).

As an incoming college freshmen, it can be overwhelming trying to pack. There are a million things you need to remember, purchase, and organize before leaving home that it can get overwhelming. These are college essentials that you probably forgot to pack. These are items and products that I wish someone else would have told me to bring to college.

Tile is an absolute LIFE SAVER. It is a tracker that will show you on a map where you left something and even ping if you are within bluetooth range. Put it on your wallet, keys, in your backpack, in your purse, your gym bag etc. Honestly, put it on everything if you are like me . PARENTS: save yourself the phone calls of your child crying they lost their wallet and purchase this for them. It will save everyone the heart ache.

#1 rookie move by freshmen? Not bringing a mattress pad to school. The “mattress” that comes with dorms and student housing could be described as laying on a boulder. Do yourself a favor and invest in a mattress topper. If you don’t buy one now, you will end up buying one a week into school. This one has great reviews!

An over the door mirror is a must have! Some dorms may have mirrors, but they are often small or you have to share it with your roommate. Having a door on the mirror is great because both roommates can use it, and is great for checking your outfit out the door!

Having a shoe rack is essential for keeping your shoes nice, as well as preventing the bottom of your closet from being huge pile of shoes. This shoe rack is a great price, and will keep your already small space from becoming a mess.

Storage bins are great for at the top of your closet or under your bed. You can store clothes that are out of season, or miscellaneous things like tech, supplies, or clothing that would usually be folded but there is no room in your dresser (if you even have one). These are a good price and come in so many different colors and patterns so you can find some that fit your dorm room style. Speaking of- click here for my college dorm room decor ideas.

Having a portable power bank is so important to keep in your backpack and purse. It is great for long days at school, or even parties. Having a charged phone is good for your safety when you are out and about, and it is also convenient.

This may not apply to all schools, but many laundry facilities require quarters to turn on (some may use ID cards). My school used quarters, and as the naive 18 year old I was, I didn’t have a single quarter in my wallet. If your school uses quarters for laundry, stop by the bank and get a few rolls for the semester.

Communal showers is probably my least favorite part of dorm living. Investing in a towel wrap is CRUCIAL to making your life easier. The elastic band top makes it easy to carry your shower caddy to the showers and walk back to your room with no issues.

There will be several times during the semester that you do not want to have to carry a purse. ( parties, football games, etc) This is the perfect solution. This wallet is made of a tight elastic that holds your ID card, credit cards, and even cash if needed. It is super slim and I would either wear it on a lanyard or even just throw it into my back pocket. Perfect for when you need a couple cards but don’t want to lug around a purse.
