This post is about college dorm room decor ideas.
Decorating my college dorm room was one of the top things I was excited to do upon moving to college. Like many other incoming freshman, I was a little shocked by how plain and small the dorm was. I knew that in order to make it feel like home, I needed to decorate!
When looking for inspiration, I searched high and low all over Pinterest to find what I was looking for. At stores everything seemed very young and cheap looking to me. I quickly realized that I did not need to buy items that were labeled for “dorm use” and could use regular home decor and decorating tricks in my small space.
One of my main tips and tricks I tell incoming freshman to invest in is a twin size headboard. It immediately adds to the room and makes your bed look like a real bed. Most college dorms come with a bed on a wood frame or stilts, so the headboard is easily attachable. I made sure to link a bunch below!
Another recommendation for college dorm decor, is to pick a white or simple duvet cover. That way you can invest in one for all 4 years, and just switch out the throw pillows if you style changes, or you want an update.
Below I created mood boards for several different styles of dorm rooms, with links to everything you need. I tried to find the best mix of good quality and price, so you can get the best bang for your buck. Buying everything upfront may be expensive, so if that is not in your budget, just invest in a couple throw pillows and printables to put up on your wall.
Decorating your college dorm room is one of the most fun parts of moving to college. With a couple changes your room can transform from dull and to fabulous.
